I am watching Orlando and wondering if this is an old guide tactic.  He says if you take a handful of feed and eat it that you will “feel” the animal you are hunting. You should try…

Finally we get back in the truck.  The air is thick as soup with tension.  We think we might have lost our opportunity since they are now on the run.  After driving for about 10 minutes David sees them in the distance.  We hustle to a place where we have a good view 200 yards into a clearing.  Chris and David think that the herd is going to walk across this clearing in the next 30 seconds.  Quickly Denise gets in position.  This time she is going to shoot off the top of the truck.  If only about 1000 lbs. of Guide, Outfitter, Supervisor and Camera man can hold their breath and not move a muscle, then the plan is for Denise to take the M mid-step through the clearing.  The tension mounts.  We see our animal.  Another Mouflon steps in front of our target.  They don’t see us.  The leader of the herd turns to cross the clearing.  Denise only has about five feet until the Mouflon is gone out of sight.  David and Chris hiss “shoooooot” as forcefully and quiet as possible. Denise squeezes the trigger.  Through the smoke we see the Mouflon run, but Chris thinks it is a solid hit.  After 10-15 minutes, we climb down and try to find blood or hair.  As we all climb down and walk I can hear everyone muttering under their breath.  THIS IS A REAL HUNT – NOTHING EASY HERE – AWESOME!  While all of the professionals are searching for signs of a harvested animal, Denise exclaims – “Blood!”  Everyone comes over and yes – there is a fresh drop of blood – Chris was right about the well placed shot.  We start fanning out walking in the direction the herd left the clearing.  Only a matter of yards past the clearing we found our trophy.

This was quite a hunt and a great job by Denise, Chris, Orlando and David.  I later learned that Chris has shot several top animals in TGR, SCI and ROE.  He has over 30 species available to hunt in Texas.  He also books for Africa, New Zealand, Canada, Costal Fishing, and Whitewing Dove hunts.  If you are looking for a Trophy Hunt or just want some meat in the freezer, Chris is the one to call.
