Williams Ranch
This ranch has been in the family since the late 1920's. I split my time between Austin and the ranch. Ricky Winks, the Ranch Manager, lives here with his wife Lila and daughter Melissa We have worked closely with biologists from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the last twelve years to develop our excellent hunting opportunities. Special thanks to Fielding Harwell, retired, and to Mike Krueger of the Lampassas office for their assistance. The ranch is located in the NW portion of the Texas Hill Country with excellent elevations and rugged terrain. Live oak, post oak, black jack oak, elm, hackberry, persimmon, greenbriar, elbowbush, pecan, mesquite, cedar, prickly pear and tasajillo form the habitat. Wild flowers are abundant in the spring. Buffalo Creek, dry unless it rains, runs through the middle of the ranch and holds turkey and hogs. "At the end of the hunt I was lucky enough to be able to chase after a hog and tie him up. I've always watched events like calf roping, but have never been able to experience it myself. I guess I just skipped the calf roping and went straight to wild hog roping! I could not believe how much energy it took!" ~ Allen Shannon on Williams Ranch "We saddled up the horses, trailered them and were off to meet up with Regan and Rocky on another pasture of the ranch. These guys were the professional hog hunters. After meeting Regan and Rocky and seeing their dogs and equipment I knew this was serious business and these guys were the real deal. It was a perfect morning as the front the night before had brought in some cold air, but the wind had died down." ~ Allen Shannon on Hawg Wild!
