If you are of age that requires Hunters Safety, then you are probably going to have to go ahead and do that first before most land owners are going to allow you on their land to hunt. Does hunting public versus private land have anything to do with the legal requirement of having Hunters Safety?

You need hunters safety for private or public land if you are 17 years or older. The game warden will check you for hunters safety, and make sure you have your card on your person with your license.

And most Corps of Engineers lands require everyone no matter their age to have a hunter safety card to even get the free permit to hunt the lands that they control.

yeah i am old enough that i dont have to have the hunters safety course, but if on public land or corp of eng i would have to take it.
no problem taking the class was just thinking i would wait and take it with my kids to show them that even us old farts can do it.

Hey Brian, I taught Hunter Safety in NM for years and learned that us older guys had to really watch ourselves or the 10 year olds would have a better score than we had.
