Hello everyone. Ive been reading this board for a while, and decided to register and participate more. I used to gig flounder at a place everyone called the old water plant on the Galveston side of the SLP bridge. Last year I took my wife down there and to my dismay, someone has decided to develop the area with condos or something. We made it to the water and got skunked that night. To make it even worse, on the way out, I got my truck stuck so bad it took three wreckers to get me out and cost me 300 bucks. Anyhow, I dont have a boat and this was the only area I know of that I could drive to. I havent been back since then and was wondering if anyone knows if you can still get down there to stab some flatties? I know it is possible to gig on the other side of the pass at the bridge, but I was going to take my young nephew with me and due to that areas record with drownings, I wouldnt feel comfortable doing it. If that area is inaccessable, can yall share some areas that we can drive to and not have to lug the floats batteries and lights very far to get to the water? I just want to be able to take my nephew out and let him see what its all about. Im not looking for anyones honeyhole, just an easy place to get to. Someone told me there is a park near the boat ramp on Gou Hole Road, but I went down there and wasnt able to find it. Eventually, I want to get a Jon Boat that will serve me to gig from and also to fish in the bays. If anyone is interested, I fish alot on the Tx City Dike at night with a generator and two 1000 watt lights. I would be happy to share them some night. Just look for a blue 06 F150 with a Ranch Hand guard on the front. Like I said, I understand if you dont want to divulge your favorite spots, I just want a place to stab a few with my nephew before he grows up and we loose the opportunities. Oh by the way, his sister is fighting in Iraq and came home for leave last week. When she was deployed her original leave was supposed to be in November during the whitetail season, and I promised her I would take her to my lease in Camp Wood. Well her leave kept getting put off, and she didnt make it till last week. I was true to my promise though and took her to Bill Bucks place in Alvin. (www.briscoeexoticranch.com) to hunt. Yeah, I know its a canned hunt, but a promise is a promise, and after all she has done for this country, I wasnt going to let her down. It was the first time hunting for her and her fiance, who is also home on leave, and to say it was successful is an understatement. She shot a 170 pound Sika buck, Brian shot a 225 pound Nilgai antelope, and I did my part in ridding the ranch of a 250 pound sow hog. Thanks for the great board, and I look forward to hearing from yall.
