Hog Proof Feeder Pen??

What is everyone building their hog proof feeder pens out of? I am looking to build it out of something that a hob cant just bust through or try and get their head under and lift it up. Something that even the babies cant get through. I hate to fence it off because you rule out the fawns eating the protein off the ground with their momma. However we have had a couple of really big hogs eating from our protein feeder. IF you have pics or maybe a parts list of what you used Id really appreciate it

You need to purchase some 4 inch lot paneling.  Then you need to dig a trench around the feeder and bury about 1 foot of the panel in the ground.  Make sure you tie the corners together  so that they cant force it apart.  That will keep most of them out and let the deer still jump over it.  Good luck

I saw what a hunter had done in Zapata and it looked pretty effective to me. He used metal tee posts hammered into the ground with only about 3 feet protruding. These panels were buried to about 1 foot deep, with about 3 feet above ground. In two places, he cut the top wire out for about a 3' gap.

He used wire to fasten the panels to the tee posts, and to each other. He said he had no problems with hogs getting into the feeder, and the deer had no problems getting into the pen. The smaller ones jumped through the lower sections, and the bigger ones jumped in anywhere they wanted.

I guess I could include a link to the website with the cattle panels...

I think by the time the fawns really "need" the protein, they'll be old enough to jump it if it's only 3 feet.  They'll get it early from mama.

It really depends on how much you want to spend. We use T-posts and cattle fence panels.  The bottom 3-4 rows are small enough to keep the little guys out.  We cut down sections in certain places to encourage smaller deer to clear the fence easily. Those panels aren't cheap but they do the job.
