Advice for Drawn Hunts

QUESTION

This is the first year I've registered for the drawn hunts and have been fortunate enough to win 2.  The first (GDE) is at White Oak Creek WMA in early December and the second (GDA) is at Gus Engeling WMA in late January.

Since I'm not a very experienced deer (or hog) hunter, I'm looking for some advice for these areas.  There will be 3 of us total, and we can kill deer or hogs.  I've never hunted in the Pineywoods or Post-oak areas.

If anyone can give me some advice on good techniques/ strategies for these areas, I would greatly appreciate it.

Gus Engling is thick and has some huge deer but you will have to work for them.  Was there last year and some people only had 50 yd shots but there are some long shots but the dear get wise as the season goes on.  Good Luck
