The wife walked out on the porch about 9:15PM and heard a pig in the distance.  With the moon and stars out, I took a chance and grabbed the binocs and scanned my pasture.  This 130# boar was about 150 yards from the house.  I was able to walk to within 17 paces, before putting a 150g .30-06 Core-Loc through the front leg and lungs.  First pig I ever shot that didn't have the bullet go all the way through.  It was 12:30 before we got it cleaned and in the fridge.  Tired today, but it's a good tired.

That is a great story and a nice pig for the freezer, it muse feel good to be able to walk outside of your own house and see wildlife like that, I have to drive four hours to get to our hunting locations and maybe spend a max of 5-10 days at the ranch hunting, I would appreciate a nice place like that to hunt at near home!!!

We love our place.  Only 15 acres, but next to 3000+ acres of heavy mesquite brush that has few cattle and little hunting pressure.  Haven't seen a deer in 4 years, but pigs are a semi-regular nighttime visitor this year.  Seeing one during the day is very rare.  Get to listen to the owls and coyotes at night, and see the stars.  I don't think I could ever live in town again.

Nice pig. Not seeing any in N-E Texas this year. I like hunting them a night, you can get close.
