Can't kill every hog in Texas so is this going to result in some loss of revenue to Texas?  What do you think?

my comment is it is mechanical looks like on rollers or slides. The first time it jams or a large hog jacks it up with his destuctivness leaving the door open other animals will die. Plus what kind of poison is it? Does every animal that eats the dead hog die also? I see this causing a problem too many X factors I think. I Deal with 40 feeders and there is always something tearing them up from nature to mechanical issues.

Looks like a death trap for shur! IMO if farmers want hog control, they need to do some controlled hunting. No offence to Hog ranches (It makes a living), Quit charging hunters trophy fees to shoot problem hogs. In N-E Texas and S-W Arkansas its hard to get permission to hunt these farm lands because its leased to hunters. I don't know how many times I've been riding farm roads and see hogs. Once  we had just left the shooting range and went to the Red river to look a some WMA land. On the way there, AR-15, Hogs, Private land, NO permission!!!! Got Hogs?

I think land owners should allow people to hunt hogs on there land if they are having problems. We try to shoot every hog we see on our lease, and we still have too many. Our land owner allows us to bring family out during the off season to shoot hogs, but not friends. But before I got on this lease we were always looking for a free or affordable hog hunt, but could never find one. It seemed like everybody was complaining, but everyone wanted to make money to cure there problem. I understand you don't want just anybody hunting on your land, especially if you lease it to other hunters. But land owners could allow friends of leasees, or have some kind of prescreening to allow random hunters to shoot hogs. Land owners could at least make it affordable for people. We are going to try doing an offseason weekend hog hunt on our lease this year, and bring freinds and family.

We should hunt them not poison them, poison will probably lead to other animals dying. There are a lot of animals and birds that eat dead hogs.

Put a 10 or 20 dollar bounty on a hogs head and see how long they last.

While I would have concerns on how well it would hold-up to beatings by wild hogs, my other question would be what would happen to the animals that feed on the carrion after it dies (vultures, coyotes, raccoons, possum, etc)?  This poison has to get into the bloodstream, and if it gets into the bloodstream it can get ingested by other varmints.

While I have no particular aversion to these kind of varmints they also clean-up our messes.

I agree with you David. Don't know how this will effect orher animals, however where we hunt, the land owners hired a trapper and he set out poison to control varments. This was 20+ yrs ago, and we were warned that there may still be poison traps out there.

Can anyone think of a pest that was eliminated by poisoning?I think we should look into stopping their reproduction. If scientists can breed a hog with extra ribs for meat production,I'm sure they can make feed with birth control.

It doesn't make sense.  We can't use lead shot for waterfowl because it is poisonous, but now we are going to purposely put out how many hundreds of pounds of poison?  Don't get me wrong, I have no issues with NOT using lead shot, but I do have an issue with putting more poison out there.

We had Hogs on our hunting property in OK.  Were seeing dozens every day.  We opened up on em last winter and over the summer.  Killed 39.  By the time Deer season came around, we saw a total of 3 Hogs all season.  Heavy hunting pressure does work.
