Hello all,

I've allways been very interested in hunting throuhout my live, but have never really had anyone to show me the ropes. I am now at the place in my life where i fell I can teach myself most things through research and so on, and can actually afford to take on this hobby. My question onthis is pretty simple. I plan on hunting deer/hog here in Texas. I plan ontaking advangage of the public land available. I am looking for suggestions onwhat is best for a beginner to hunt, deer or hogs? I have a marlin XL7 30-06. Any good web sites for beginner would be very helpfull

I would go for the hogs first. They are abudant, easy to find a place to hunt them, cheaper, and its year round. I would improve my shooting skills with pigs during the summer and then try deer in the winter.

Thank you for the advice. The big question is what do you do if the field dressing goes bad on a hog? I have been watching videos on youtube but some tips would help out a lot.
