Great video, enjoyed watching, but I think hogs shoud be shot with a deer caliber rifle for a quick, clean kill.  That is on e reason I dont like bow hunting.  I like 1 shot, and an instant kill. 

I agree - that was that last thing I said on the video.

One of the issues I am struggling with is that when I am working a "Hog Eradication" project for a ranch, I have been unable to shoot more that four hogs at one time with my rifle. The 12 Guage 00Buckshot option let's me improve those numbers. However, I am currently also looking at getting a Class 3 license to put a silencer on a Remington 700 .308 and that might be the best of all solutions.

Another option would be a Ruger semi automatic in MINI 14.

IMHO every weapon comes down to the hunter using it. as to whether it will be a quick kill or not  I've seen people 70 yards away hit deer in the butt with a high-end rifle and people take gutshots with a bow while a deer is walking from 30 yards.  Both are bad obviously.  My point is that it doesn't matter if it's a bow, shotgun, rifle or whatever.  You can make a fast, clean kill if you practice and take the right kind of shots.

It's like the argument those antis use - guns kill people.  We all know it's people that kill people with guns.  Just like weapons don't make bad shots - people make bad shots using weapons.

Sorry to go off - I love to bowhunt so I get a little agitated when people say that bows are not a weapon that can drop a deer.  It's the people using them incorrectly.

I have shot several hogs with a Mini 14 and Bushmaster Varmit .223.

Unless you put it right in the ear, that little 55 grain or 64 grain isn't going to do drop it and it will run far off in the woods to rot wasted. However, the Bushmaster is plenty accurate enough to put that little bullet in the year. My issue is trying to get more than one. I am not harvesting for self-consumption but rather trying to help a Ranch fixed an inbalanced ecosystem. My current record with the .223 is four hogs at one time but then were all under 100 lbs.

I recently learned of a special 124 grain .223 shell which I am special ordering as we speak. This should change the conversation regarding the .223 and larger hogs.

However, I am pretty without a suppressor, it will hard for me to get more than five at a time still.

Pretty neat suit I have a similar type thing for bow hunting but its not that elaborate.  If you need any help eradicating hogs around the Central Texas area let me know I would be glad to help with bow rifle or shot gun.
