I hunt on the Ray Ranch in Pettus Texas, not to far from Goliad. I was sitting in a blind one morning along with my dad. We had been sitting in the same spot for a couple of days looking for some hog action. We had seen lots of hogs on the previous days but I'm not to well of a shot. The blind i was in, was in the middle of a field with oats planted down 2 senderos and a open field planted with oats, with 3 different feeders. at one feeder there were 3 Javalina and at the other were about 20 little baby pigs that couldnt of been more that 2 weeks old. there mother had been shot 2 days prior to that by another man on the lease. the pigs were too small to shoot, my 7 mm had already figured that out. as we looked at them we saw 3 bigger pigs come behind the little babies and i got ready. out of the corner of my eye i saw a coyote run out and i said dad coyote, i gave him the gun and when i looked i saw the coyote grab one of the baby piglets and ran at a trot across the field. my dad got the crosshairs on him and shot. i was looking through my binoculars and i saw this sight. when my dad shot i saw the pig go 15 feet in the air and the coyote went from a small trot to as fast as ive ever seen anything run. i dont know if my dad hit the coyotes jaw or if he hit the pig. 3 minutes later as the pigs came back i saw 10 turkeys come out and were crossing the field. i told my dad and i shot, missed, i concentrated alot more and KEPT MY HEAD DOWN! i got my first turkey ever, i was so proud. it had a 9 inch beard and wieght about 30 lbs. we had some great stories to tell around the campfire that night, and 2 things that i will always remember. i want to thank my dad for giving me the oppurtunity to learn about wildlife and to hunt with him almost every weekend at a special place called the Ray Ranch.
