Hey Ski, I think I know the WMA you are speaking about. I may try to make it up there myself just to check out a new place. Sounds like you got a nice BP, we should get together and do a hunt a Aquilla. Have fun at the range. What kind of powder do you use. I was thinking about going to that new Triple 7 produce that is supposed to be less damaging to the barrel than pyrodex and easier to clean up? I also was interested in the premeasured powder, I guess they are called Pyrodex Pellets, kinda seems a little easier to manage with out in the field hunting. If they just had the Triple 7 in the pellet form I would be set.

gman, Aquilla is the WMA I was definitely referring to. In my older Apollo 90 50 cal. , I use 65 grains of Pyrodex RS behind a 385 grain hollow base, hollow point Honrnady Great Plains bullet, that load is dead on at 50 yards and about 1 1/2" high at 100. In my HunterBolt .45 cal 209 I use 100 grains of Pyrodex Pellets behind a PowerBelt 225 grain hollow point, sighted this load in dead on at 100 yards, have no desire to extend the range...always have a laser ranger finder with me so I know my distances. The Optima 209 mag I haven't made up my mind yet....gonna start with 100 grains of Pyrodex pellets behind at 245 grain copper hollow point and go from there. I'll definitely have it fine tuned by the time deer season rolls around. We'll definitely have to make a point at meeting up at Aquilla during the season....would be a pleasure. Would be even better if several from the forum would come along too, the place is spread out pretty good so we wouldn't get in each others way. We'll play it by ear.
