I have a spring turkey lease between Cuero and Goliad on Coletto Creek. Its really gamey country and I usually get at least one gobbler each year there. There are also lots of hogs and doves there which leads me to the subject of this post -
He is having a combined dove and hog hunt on his land on the weekend of October 2nd. There is a 30 acre field that is the feeding ground to a whole bunch of doves for an outstanding morning hunt. Last weekend he had over 100 hogs feeding near his house - he walked out on the front porch and took his pick from about 40 yards.......
The cost of the this Texas Double will be $100. I'll bring some wild game down for a cookout for lunch if we can get about 5 of us there. I am making NO money organizing this hunt - doing it solely to help the landowner out - he needs the bucks. There are NO trophy or kill fees!!!!!! THIS IS A BARGAIN !!!!
IF you're interested please post on this thread and I'll email you with details. I feel that you'll have a good chance to limit out on doves and also take some pig home too.

Sounds like a great deal, however 1200 miles is a little too far for a weekend hunt.
Looking forward to hear how it goes.

Jim,
I'd love to but I'm already committed and can't get out of it. If anything comes up later in the month or year please let me know.

One week left to go dove and hog hunting....... You'll get some doves and probably a hog too!!! $100 is about as affordable as it gets!!!!

Man I just can't figure out a way to go Jim. Amy is due in a month and we're taking Mary Margaret to the TPWD outdoor expo already. This kills me cause it sounds like a perfect hunt.

Called and talked with the landowner a few minutes ago. Lots of fat, slow moving doves right now (is there such a thing as a grain-belly? LOL) plus lots of hogs as well.
Going ONCE!!!!!!

I am planning on heading down there tomorrow afternoon so I can hunt late tomorrow at one of the stock tanks as they fly in for that last water before roosting down. Based on what the landowner told me there is the chance to limit out tomorrow and Saturday both IF - and only if - I am shooting well.....
GOING TWICE!!!!!! (You can bring your dog too Allen!!!!!)

Got there too late to hunt on Saturday so got out early Sunday. Dove hunting was a little sparce this past weekend, but I could still have come close to limiting but was just too rusty to shoot well. I don't think they have migrated down yet - still kind of warm up North of here. Some hunters near there must have been shooting over a baited field as there was a LOT of boom - boom about a mile away.
Saw two large coveys of WILD Texas quail, which will be waiting for me when the season opens in a few weeks. Maybe the doves will be down by then too!!!!
I didn't go after hogs or varmints - just too tired from work I guess. Have been hauling a lot of big appliances lately............. The property owner has been seeing lots of porkers lately. He has a lot of pork in his freezer now.
Dawg and I had a great time. She slept all the way home.
