this is the back story I am told about this video - pretty amazing no one was killed (by bullets, not the boar)...
Let me first start out this email with no one will believe this story except for one fact, we have it all on VIDEO. Everyone knows that I love to hunt wild boar on our ranch with family and friends. We have many stories of how these pigs must be respected. There are stories of pigs attacking individuals after being shot multiple times and living beyond what any body could handle. Many call these old fishing stories. Well, there is a new champion in the "you wont believe what happened out on the ranch this weekend" contest. Here are the highlights and then enjoy the video. 1. A group of my friends go out to see if they can get a pig at dawn. There are none to be found. Then, in the daylight, they spot a 250lb boar about 300-400 yards away up on a hill. One of the guys has a 300 Winmag (big caliber) and takes a lucky shot and low and behold, hits this pig. He shoots a second time and hits it again. It rolls down the hill and all believed it for dead. 2. Several of the guys (the three who used to think they were tough guys) go up on the hill to claim their trophy and next weeks dinner. As they are searching, the pig sees them and starts to come after the first guy. He is too close and can not get a sight picture in his scope. The pig, makes eye contact, and charges. Feet apart, Hunter #2, armed only with a .45 cal pistol, steps up and unloads 5 rounds at the hog. Luckily he is a good shot and the pig, just about to gore hunter #1, is hit multiple times. Hunter #1 and the pig tumble down the hill. All the while, hunter #1 is trying to avoid being wrapped up with the pig. 3. After 2 rifle and 5 pistol rounds later, the pig must be dead. It is not. The pig is now broad side to the camera man, Mr. Parker "I always get the picture" Hathaway. Although quite far away, just to be safe, he has another shooter take a shot with a 30-06. He hits the devil pig twice, and again, it goes down all believing that it is dead. 4. They find the pig which is still alive and very pissed off. They shoot him 3 more times with a high powered rifle and down it goes, appearing to be dead again. 5. As our 3 hunters are looking for the pig, they can't believe what they hear. The pig is chomping his tusks in a loud pissed off fashion with the sound echoing throughout the canyon. 6. After a few moments, the chomping stops and being the brave hunters that they are, they wait for a while to let that pig die. They finally recover the hog which has the widest tusks that they have ever seen. So, how is that for a story? Well, now you can watch the first charge and get a feeling for just how crazy it can get out there.
