TEXAS SHOOT-OUT 2006

The Texas Shoot-Out Javelina Bowhunt 2006 will be held February 10th through 13th, 2006 on the Callaghan Ranch, Located in Webb County, 27 miles north of Laredo. We will be hunting approx. 90,000 acres of the thorny, cactus infested terrain of the South Texas brush country. Hunters are assigned to the pasture of their choice providing that the number of hunters has not exceeded the limit of hunters for that pasture. You may switch pastures as openings permit by changing your name to the proper list. This system is used to insure no overcrowding or undue hunting pressure on any one hunting area. In the event it should rain, all motor vehicles will be restricted to the main ranch road, which is clearly defined on the ranch map provided at the store operation inside the ranch. If you are caught in the rain and it appears that it won’t last long, wait it out and give the roads a chance to dry before returning to camp.

REGISTRATION

Registration can be done two ways: (1) you can register at the gate. The gate fee is $180.00 and opens at 10:00 am February 9th, 2006. ONLY CASH, TRAVELERS CHECKS or MONEY ORDERS will be accepted. NO PERSONAL OR BUSINESS CHECKS. (2) You can pre-register by mail. The Pre-registration fee is $160.00 and must be post marked no later than January 10, 2006. (NO EXCEPTIONS). If everyone in your vehicle is pre-registered correctly, you will be processed through the main gate much faster. All spaces on the registration form, except rental vehicle information, Out-of-State hunting lic. # (which can be obtained at any Texas Wal-Mart on the way) and the receipt number we issue, must be completed in order to avoid a possible delay going through the gate. All pre-registered hunters will park on the right side of the road. Everyone in your vehicle must be pre-registered, Free and non-hunters included. BE ADVISED THAT ALL PRE-REGISTRATIONS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. However, they may be transferred only if you possess the pre-registered hunters receipt or receipt number (NO EXCEPTIONS). All vehicles not pre-registered must park and wait on the left side of the road.

CAMPING

We have one large camp area for all hunters. This area has several roads cut through it. The area along the left fence line will be for those camping with generators. There will be a large fresh water tanker parked inside the camp area gate. The camp area is totally primitive. There is a large trash pit available. Please dispose of all trash in this pit. If you plan to attend this hunt, but are unable to camp, there are several hotels and motels in the Laredo area, approximately 27 miles south of the ranch. May we suggest that you make your reservations in advance to ensure that you have a place to stay.

LICENSE

Texas residents must possess a valid hunting license. Non-residents must obtain a 5-day small game license for $45.00. Obtain your Out-of-State license prior to arrival. You can obtain your Out of State license by mail through the TEXAS PARKS and WILDLIFE DEPT, 4200 Smith School Road, Austin, Texas 78744, or by calling 1-800-792-1112 Mon.-Fri. 8:00 am-5:00 pm. To purchase your hunting license over the phone (charge card only) call 1-800-895-4248. PRIZES

There will be a drawing Saturday evening February 11, 2006 for various door prizes as available. You need not be present to win, however all prizes other than hunts must be picked up prior to the end of the hunt. The Trophy deer hunt will also be awarded at this time. The winner of this hunt will be able to bring along one guest for the three day hunt.

NOTES

Due to AFLATOXIN PROBLEMS FROM YEAR TO YEAR, The ranch will not allow corn to enter the Ranch. If you sour the corn for Feral Hogs Prior to entering the Ranch that will be acceptable.

It is now legal to hunt with a crossbow or drawlock device in Texas, however we will not allow these two methods on this hunt. The only exception will be their use through written medical authorization from a medical doctor. Make note that if you have the weapon loaded in a vehicle or in camp your right to use them will be revoked immediately.

Hunters are permitted to walk and or drive down any road and or sendero. We do request that each hunter try to respect another hunters legally marked area. Legally marked means name and receipt number on each piece of marking. Each hunter will not try to control more than 150 yards at the very most and no hunter will use more than four markers. No hunter can block a sendero or harass another hunter for passing through it. Any disagreements will be settled by staff and that decision will be final. If you don’t want others driving or walking through your baited area, do your baiting off the roads or senderos.
