The Texas Department of Agriculture and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department are investigating an incident involving the misuse of the pesticide Temik in the southwestern area of Eastland County in early October.

A mountain lion was spotted behind an El Paso County hospital adjacent to Franklin Mountain. It was “just sitting there” and would not leave, a caller reported. El Paso Game Warden Ray Spears enlisted the assistance of Game Warden Mike Legarretta, and they arrived to find not one but two mountain lions (perhaps a mother and a large offspring).

The function raises money for grants to conservation organizations, many of which are involved in passing the hunting and fishing heritage on to the next generation.  Grants totaling $34,000 will be awarded to 18 recipients at this year’s event.

James Belcher developed symptoms that turned out to have nothing to do with swine flu but everything to do with hogs.  Doctors earlier this year diagnosed the 76-year-old Tomball resident with brucellosis.
