Hallettsville -
The annual Wild Boar Hunting Expo is held on the first weekend of March in Hallettsville, Texas. This is the only hunting Expo in the USA dedicated entirely to the sport of wild boar hunting. Vendors from around the country come to show & sell anything and everything hog hunting related: hunting gear, dog gear, feeders, taxidermists, hog dogs, traps, apparel, and much, much more. There is something for the entire family.
The Lone Star Bowhunters Association along with Adrenalin Archery Pop-Up 3D Target System are set up for both fun and competition shooting. You can bring your own bows. Traditional and compound shooters are welcome.
In conjunction with the expo, Texas Dog Hunter's Association hold their annual "Hunt for the Hungry" contest. Dog hunters from across the state bring in their best catches of the weekend in hopes of winning big money and prizes. All the wild pork generated from the contest is donated to Hunter's Harvest which turns the meat into sausage and distributes it to the poor of Texas. In 2009, over seventy teams registered. 285 hogs were harvested producing 28,657 pounds of meat. This hunting tournament both feeds the hungry while at the same time helps Texas farmers and ranchers by removing hundreds of nusiance feral hogs from the countryside.
Whether you trap hogs, hunt them with a gun, a bow, or chase them with dogs - this is the Expo for you
